HSM Attends March for Life in Washington, DC

“As I return from the Holy Savior Menard Pilgrimage to Washington D.C., I would like to share a few of the highlights that our students were able to experience.  I would like to complement our students who attended.  They were amazing and represented the Holy Savior Menard community with class and dignity. In Washington, our students were able to study the history of our faith as we visited many of the historic sites of the Catholic church including the Saint John Paul II National Shrine and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. In addition to touring sites, we participated in Mass celebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio with thousands of believers.  Following the Mass, we marched with hundreds of thousands from around the country in support of lives everywhere.  We spent one day in Emmitsburg, Maryland visiting the National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes. Here our students took the intentions of our faculty and local community and placed them at the altar and pray from those who sent request.  While in Maryland, we also visited the location of the first Catholic girl’s school in the United States in the home of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. There were many stops on this trip to different religious and national monuments.  The overarching theme of each stop was the value of life.
In visiting with our students on the trip, it is very evident that we all participated in a tremendous educational experience about the history of our faith, the history of our country, and most importantly the importance of all lives.

Thanks to all who made this trip possible and God Bless,

Chris Gatlin, Dean of Students, Holy Savior Menard”
